Kat Eryn Rubik, born in Saint Petersburg, came to Germany in the early 1990s. She studied jazz, classical composition and orchestration. For her debut novel Superposition, which tells the story of a jazz pianist and deals with the themes of art, home and being lost, she was awarded the ZDF's aspekte literature prize for the best literary debut in 2015. Rubik lives and works in Berlin.
