René Freund
René Freund was born in Vienna in 1967, grew up in Munich and Vienna, and lives as a writer in Upper Austria. He received his doctorate at the University of Vienna (philosophy, theatre sciences) and then worked as a dramaturg and assistant director at the Theater in der Josefstadt. He has translated several plays and writes for newspapers and magazines. Freund has received several prizes and scholarships. He wrote numerous radio plays and plays which were performed, among others, at the Volkstheater Wien. His books have been translated into English, French, Russian, Italian and Spanish.
