Franca Parianen

Dr Franca Parianen, born in 1989, is a neuroscientist, bestselling author and science communicator. She has a degree in public administration and a master's degree in cognitive and neuroscience; for her doctorate, she conducted research at the Max Planck Institute, among others. Since 2014, the Berliner-by-choice has been active as a science slammer, bringing science to the stages of theatres, pubs and congresses. She now also tours as a full-length speaker between keynotes and panel discussions. In 2015, Rowohlt Verlag published her book "Woher soll ich wissen, was ich denke, bevor ich höre, was ich sage" (2017), which was on the bestseller list for weeks. Since then, Franca Parianen has regularly appeared on the radio, in print and on television, as well as on Twitter. Her second book "Hormongesteuert ist immerhin selbstbestimmt" (2020) will get a supplemented paperback edition in 2023 with "Herz, Hirn und Hormone". Both books have been translated into several languages. Most recently, the French edition "Mes hormone, et moi" was published. In her current essay "Teilen und Haben" (Sharing and Having), to which the Federal Agency for Civic Education is dedicating a special edition, the author writes about fairness and distributive justice in the crisis.Currently, as editor and co-author of "Weltrettung braucht Wissenschaft" (ET Feb. 2023), Franca Parianen is exploring the question of what a world in which we listen to science might look like.
