Arne Semsrott

Arne Semsrott, born in Hamburg in 1988, is a political scientist, journalist, and activist. He heads the research and transparency portal FragDenStaat, through which he was responsible for publishing the “NSU files,” among other things. He was also a co-initiator of Hochschulwatch and OpenSCHUFA and founded the Freedom Fund, which he uses to free people from prison. Together with Gilda Sahebi, he hosts the podcast “Gilda con Arne.” Semsrott is a two-time winner of the Otto Brenner Prize for critical journalism and was awarded the Swedish Nolltaxepriset. His SPIEGEL-bestseller Machtübernahme (Seizure of Power) was published in 2024 by Droemer Knaur Verlag. The Süddeutsche Zeitung counted it among the most important books of the year. The author lives too little and works too much in Berlin.
