Tilo Eckardt is a German-Swiss editor, publisher, author and literary agent. He was invited to Nida in Lithuania by the renowned Nordic Culture Foundation and the Klaipėda County Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library to work on this novel. Gefährliche Betrachtungen was largely written in the author's residence there in the immediate neighbourhood of Thomas Mann's former summer house.
