Dirk Peitz (1971) was born in Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia and has been working as an author and an editor since 1995. He used to write about pop music and contemporary art, particularly for Spex magazine and the Süddeutsche Zeitung, but at some point, he felt like a change of direction. For a few years, he turned his hand to writing reportage and profiles that had nothing whatsoever to do with music or art. He chose instead to write about American veterans, Iraqi fathers, Indian child actors or Pakistani police officers. Peitz later grew tired of all the travelling for this foreign reportage and landed his job as a freelance chief editor for various glossy monthly magazines. Finally, he put down roots in his adopted home of Berlin, where he is now chief editor of Wired Germany magazine.
